Contra Costa College (CCC) has earned a prestigious spot in NASA’s 2025 Student Launch Challenge, becoming one of only two community colleges nationwide to join the competition.

In fact, CCC will be competing alongside 51 top universities, including heavyweights like MIT and Purdue University.

Students will work on every aspect of the project, from rocket design to programming onboard payloads, gaining critical hands-on experience in STEM fields.

This annual event tasks teams with designing, building, and launching rockets, culminating in a full-scale launch at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The teams will also present their designs to NASA engineers and scientists, simulating a real-world aerospace environment.

In preparation for the event, the CCC team will undergo rigorous testing and evaluation over several months, including detailed safety reviews, flight readiness checks, and prototype launches.
