It’s hard to be a parent. It’s even harder to be a student parent.
That’s why we’re so excited to announce that the Comet Market—a free grocery store where students are encouraged to pick up everything from produce and milk to snacks and coffee—now offers parenting supplies, as well.
Students can now come by the Comet Market to pick up diapers, formula, baby/toddler items, and more. This November, the Comet Market will even offer free children’s books.
On top of that, the on-campus Early Learning Center also now subsidizes childcare for qualifying CCC students.
“The Early Learning Center is an amazing resource for student parents at CCC,” says ELC Director Brianne Ayala. “By working in tandem with the Early Childhood Education Department on campus, we use our extensive knowledge and expertise of early childhood to provide responsive and caring classrooms that promote optimal physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth for each child. Parenting students can utilize us while they concentrate on their studies. While they are learning, their child will be learning and growing also.”
The Center is open Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.. It currently serves children from two years to six years old, or the time they enter kindergarten. Plans are currently underway to add an infant classroom for children under 18 months of age. CCC students have priority enrollment, and funding options that may entirely or partially pay for the child’s tuition.

San Pablo residents who are enrolled in the college’s career education programs may also qualify for WIOA, a program that covers up to 50% the cost of childcare.
