Student Success Story: Nikhil Masand
Nikhil Masand, a recent graduate of Contra Costa College (CCC), has an inspiring story of resilience and achievement. Celebrating his accomplishments, Nikhil received the prestigious Student Leadership Award from the State Chancellor’s Office and has been invited to join their Speakers Bureau.
Nikhil has just been accepted to UC Davis, where he will major in Political Science with a focus on Public Service. His long-term goal is to become a university, Chancellor. Reflecting on his journey at CCC, Nikhil shared during his commencement speech, “The campus staff, administrators, and faculty I met with were invested in me, they really cared about my success. Which really motivated me to work even harder.”
During his time at CCC, Nikhil wore many hats:
- Associated Student Union Senator, Treasurer, and Executive Vice President
- ESL Department Advocate
- Member of the Student Success Committee
- Organizer of the Second Annual Tour Guide
- International Student Club Inter-Club Council Representative, where he played a crucial role in securing funding and planning the college’s first Winter Formal.
Nikhil is particularly proud to graduate from the Automotive Services Technician program and looks forward to transferring to Davis in the fall. Reflecting on his journey, he said, “Without my support system, I would have given up on my education, and I certainly would not be here today.” His message to fellow students is powerful: “If I can turn my setbacks into successes, you can too.” Congratulations, Nikhil! Your journey is a testament to the transformative power of dedication and support. We can’t wait to see all the amazing things you’ll accomplish at UC Davis and beyond.
