Communications Studies/Speech

Speech is a social science that places communicative behavior at the heart of human activity. It plays a vital role in individual development, interpersonal relationships, and the functioning of political, economic, cultural, and social institutions. Earning an AA degree in Speech will give you a strong foundation in communication theories, decision-making strategies, and the practical application of communication skills across various settings. This degree also sets you up for success if you’re planning to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication or Communication Studies, as it covers the essential lower-division coursework required by many four-year colleges and universities.

Graduates of this program are well-prepared for a variety of career paths. With a focus on Mass Communication, you could find yourself working in public relations, broadcasting, the performing arts, marketing, promotions, sales, or management. Careers related to Communication Studies might include roles in law, political campaigns, education, customer service, human resources, international relations, negotiation, arbitration, nursing, and other health-related fields.
