Psychology is the science of understanding human thought, emotion, and behavior—and at Contra Costa College, you’ll explore it from both scientific and real-world perspectives.

Our program combines rigorous study with practical application, encouraging critical thinking, observation, and analytical skills that help you better understand yourself and others. You’ll learn how to use scientific methods to study behavior, assess treatment approaches, and develop strategies for personal and social change.

Courses cover a variety of topics, including social, developmental, and cognitive psychology, laying the groundwork for transfer and future careers in mental health, education, business, public service, and beyond.

Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior. It explores how people think, feel, learn, and interact—with applications in everything from therapy and education to marketing and public health. Psychology helps us understand the complexity of human experience and improve lives through evidence-based insights.
