Alvarado joined Contra Costa College as the Director of Athletics in 2023. Alvarado’s tenure has already seen the revival of the college’s women’s soccer team and installation of a new football field.
Previously, he served as the Program Coordinator/Assistant Athletic Director at Diablo Valley College. During his time at DVC, Alvarado managed the operational budget for the Athletics and Kinesiology Department, organized and planned all away competitions, and served as an event supervisor for 17 intercollegiate sports, including organizing security, ticket takers, and managing fans and officials.
Alvarado also coordinated the department’s annual fundraiser, the DVC Athletics Poker Tournament, which drew over 100 attendees and earned the department approximately $20,000 in fundraising revenue annually. He also assisted in interpreting the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) constitution to determine students’ athletic eligibility and conducted eligibility meetings for each team.
Throughout his career at the Contra Costa Community College District, Alvarado has held various positions, including Admissions + Records Assistant, Disabled Student Programs and Services Admin Assistant, and Interim Marketing and Communications Coordinator at the district office.
